Parent Workshop
In parents’ words...
“I really enjoyed your seminar—it awakened so many feelings in me that I have pushed aside for YEARS. I am excited to acknowledge, embrace and learn from them now.” —Little Silver, NJ
“I liked everything about the seminar. Things were well put by the speaker. Also, she was the first ‘outsider’ to tell me that unless friends or family have a child like this, they just don’t get it!!! Finally someone says it!” —Coral Springs, FL
“It was the first time I felt acknowledged for what I do every day. I appreciate you for coming. Thank you.” —Wyckoff, NJ

This interactive seminar is designed to invite parents of special needs children to acknowledge and address the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual components of their journey. We create an environment where parents can comfortably identify and address the emotional challenges they encounter daily. Whether they are struggling with feelings of guilt, navigating through the maze of doctors/specialists, or just watching their friends plan a simple vacation, their emotional reality is overwhelming.
As the number of children diagnosed with special needs increases, so do the options, choices, and decisions these families must face. These parents have very unique emotional needs. The emotional stress, as well as the financial stress placed on a family, can be devastating. Parents of children with special needs are balancing feelings of resentment, loss, anger, sadness, and guilt on a daily basis.
Our goal is to focus on empowering these parents by having them address and acknowledge the intense level of energy, emotional and intellectual, that they expend daily. Additionally, we offer techniques and insights that allow parents to view and cope with these challenges differently.
Our willingness to be open and candid, to share personal stories, along with our ability to listen and empathize has been instrumental to the success of our program. Having been enlightened, parents return home feeling stronger emotionally and more confident about their ability to get up and do it again the next day.

While working and speaking with parents, it was evident that there was another void that needed to be filled; sensitivity training for the professionals (teachers, therapists, aides, doctors) who interact with the families of children with special needs.
This workshop series acknowledges the daily job pressures and frustrations that professionals experience. They are then invited to step into the emotional reality of their students’, clients’, or patients’ parents. By enlightening professionals, we give them a greater ability to empathize and better understand the emotional turmoil that these families struggle with daily.
New tools and techniques, along with this alternative perspective, help professionals foster more productive relationships with these parents, therefore cultivating stronger professional-parent bonds that are essential to a child’s growth and success.
